Visit Inland

On Wednesday we went to visit a high school friend of Allen's who he hadn't seen in 40 years until his reunion last October. He lives on a ranch/winery, just past Elk, and inland and up the mountain. It was rather amazing. First, some street shots from the morning's walk...

Now, the drive up...

Frank explaining what had happened to the incredibly large Redwood on the property, and standing by the compost of his very large garden...

Claire reaching for the base of the burnt out tree...

Frank took us for a tour of the winery in his pick up truck...

Frank talking to one of the workers..

Walking to "the great view", though for us, it was all pretty great...

Claire found a turkey feather, fresh off the bird...

Back on the path...

Lunch on the deck overlooking the mountains; turkey and corned beef on home-made bread with salad of beets, red and gold, avocado, corn, vinaigrette. Ellis is pushing a lime into his beer. There's a large wisteria vine growing up out of the deck and covering it....

Frank's workshop...

Off to Mendocino.....

And back to Sea Ranch...

Topiary between Elk and Point Arena...

Coming in to Point Arena...

Riding through Point Arena...

and riding home.
