New York Trip
As always, a fabulous time in New York with my sister and a few old friends. Every time I go I feel the city becoming more important to me. So sorry to have missed some shows of other old friends, but I did see "Finding Vivian Maier" and loved it all - the work, the film, the story, the GUY, John Maloof. Pictures of lots of things, including a shot of FVM, to follow. As always, click on any image to enlarge:
From the bus into the city...
The most heavenly Pain Perdu, served with maple syrup and whipped cream.
From the bus into the city...
Grand Central Terminal
At Susan and Joel's apartment.
At La Duree, where Susan had taken me in Paris. There is now one in New York.
At 34th Street, waiting for a bus.
The American Folk Art Museum
Next day at the Planetarium/Natural History Museum.
Hasidim outside the museum.
Subway ride down to the Village.
On Bleecker Street, waiting for Finding Vivian Maier to begin, leather shop with Eric Clapton's Layla playing as I walked in.
It could have been 1968.
Theater shot of Finding Vivian Maier.
Subway back to Susan and Joel's.
Fireworks show on the Hudson, seen from the apartment.
Documenting my parents documents and photos. And the exquisite way Susan has stored them.
List of some of the folks at my father's funeral.
List my father made of stocks he had bought for Susan and for me.
Telegram asking my father to pay up. With the wrong name; Dr. Isaac instead of Dr. Israel.
More lists/inventories
My Aunt Florence and Uncle Milton in the lower left hand corner. Rolled photo held down with one of my father's door signs.
Florence, one of my father's five siblings, and Milton, with what looks like 1/2 a mustache.
My father's dance card/booklet for a 1928 NYU dance.
My mother's glasses case.
Anniversary cards.
My parents on a cruise.
Some of my mother's beaus.
Trip back to JFK.
